The 2016 Veteran Home Internationals will take place on 3rd/4th September 2016 at Cassy Corner, Kilkeel Co. Down, combined with the Northern Ireland Long Distance Championships. Please note that this is a new date to avoid a clash with the Compass Sport Cup Final.

These events attract between 120-250 runners who can expect good quality terrain, friendly and efficient organisation, pre-marked maps and electronic punching.

Grade B controllers who are interested to upgrade to Grade A should contact the SOA Controllers' Co-ordinator, Rob Hickling, who can advise you on the process for applying to British Orienteering.

Event Safety Training

British Orienteering require all event officials to undergo training in Event Safety and Welfare.  This is delivered as a 3-hour workshop, highly practical in nature, sociable, enjoyable and informative.  A schedule of courses across Scotland is being arranged for early 2016.  First to be confirmed is Carmichael on 21st March.

World Orienteering Day 11th May 2016

First newsletter

The first ever World Orienteering Day will be held on Wednesday, May 11th. All schools, all O-clubs and all countries all over the world are encouraged to participate. The IOF are looking to set a new Guinness World Record of 250,000 young people participating in orienteering events simultaneously all over the world.

This is a World Ranking Event (along with SOUL 7 on Sunday 17th). Using a new map and with another race in the afternoon along with a ceilidh in the evening.

If you want to improve your Sprint skills you should consider signing up for the training camp that runs from Thur 14th July.
